SCOTT FRIEDMAN, MD

Chief Executive Officer

Scott Friedman is Chief Executive Officer of Seegrid, the world’s only manufacturer of vision-guided industrial mobile robots. As CEO, Scott oversees all aspects of the company’s long-term strategy and direction.

Prior to co-founding Seegrid with Hans Moravec, Scott served as President and CEO of CareFlow|Net, an enterprise medical software company. Earlier in his career, Scott secured $18M in federal funding from the National Library of Medicine and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency for medical informatics research. CareFlow|Net licensed the intellectual property created under the government contracts and commercialized the Web-based transcription and electronic signature solutions. CareFlow|Net was purchased by a division of Philips Electronics NV in 2003.

Scott is a Bachelor of Arts graduate from the Honors College at the University of Michigan and holds a medical degree from the West Virginia University School of Medicine.

ANTHONY HORBAL

President

Anthony Horbal joined Seegrid as President in 2009 to commercialize its robotic technology and invention. As President, Anthony is responsible for the tactical and intermediate operations of the company.

Anthony’s dynamic entrepreneurial business acumen has allowed him to successfully span a variety of industries. After spending a decade developing and managing retail stores in the ‘80s, Anthony invested in the healthcare industry.

Anthony founded Three Rivers Health Plans, Inc. (TRHP) in 1995, a Pennsylvania Medicaid health plan, for which he also served as President. TRHP rapidly expanded into government health care programs within five states and the District of Columbia, with approximately 350,000 member subscribers. United Health purchased the flourishing TRHP in 2008.

Anthony holds a Master of Business Administration degree from West Virginia University.

HANS MORAVEC, Ph D

Chief Scientist

Hans is a Co-Founder and is Chief Scientist at Seegrid.

Hans is a former Research Professor and Director of the Mobile Robot Lab at the Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University. His academic work has been funded by numerous government agencies, including the Office of Naval Research, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Hans is the author of two books, Mind Children: The Future of Robot and Human Intelligence and Robot: Mere Machine to Transcendent Mind, that explore the implications of evolving robot intelligence.

Hans has a PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University, a Master of Science degree in computer science from University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Acadia University.

MITCHELL WEISS

Chief Operating Officer

As Seegrid’s Chief Operating Officer, Mitchell Weiss is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the Engineering and Manufacturing departments.

Prior to Seegrid, Mitchell worked for Brooks Automation as the CTO. Mitchell came to Brooks after the strategic merger of Brooks with PRI Automation. At PRI, he served as CTO and VP of Strategy/Technology, overseeing growth from $20M to $450M in annual revenues between 1994 and 2002. Before these roles at PRI and Brooks, he was President and Founder of ProgramMation Inc., as well as Co-Founder and Chief Engineer of United States Robots.

Mitchell is the co-author of Industrial Robotics: Technology, Programming and Applications. He holds 16 patents and earned several academic and industry awards, including being named to Industry Week's Top 50 R&D Professionals.

Mitchell holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and earned a Graduate Certificate in IP from Northeastern University.

MARK FAURIE, CPA

Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer, Mark Faurie is responsible for leading Seegrid’s finance department, which includes treasury activities, tax planning, accounting and reporting and internal audit.

Before joining Seegrid, Mark was CFO at Solar Power Industries, Inc., where he performed similar responsibilities. Prior to that, he was Treasurer, VP of Corporate Development and a Board member of Rapidigm, Inc. Earlier in his career, Mark spent 13 years at Ernst & Young, where he directed audit engagements for companies primarily in the manufacturing, healthcare, mining and distribution industries.

In addition to being a CPA, Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Carnegie Mellon University.

JACK ANTOUNIAN

Vice President of Operations

As VP of Operations, Jack Antounian oversees sourcing, procurement, supply chain operations, logistics, quality and manufacturing operations at Seegrid.

Prior to joining Seegrid, Jack was Corporate Director of Global Supply Chain and Plant Manager of the Mexico operations at MKS Instruments, a global provider of instruments, subsystems and process control solutions.

Jack is a Lean Sigma and DFX expert and two-time recipient of the Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence. As a change agent, he has spent his career re-engineering and transforming manufacturing companies to high-performing global competitors. He has extensive experience in developing and managing global supply chain, particularly in Asia and China. He has developed effective Lean, Six Sigma and DFX tools, trained more than 500 team members and led more than 10 plant-wide and 40 major Lean implementations within the United States, China, Mexico, Singapore and Vietnam.

Jack has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from Northeastern University, a Master of Science degree in Business Administration from Boston University and has completed the Harvard Business School Executive Education program.
